Update on Foreclosure and Eviction Moratorium

Good Morning:

I hope this newsletter finds you and your family doing well. In this newsletter, I want to provide a brief update on where things stand with the federal foreclosure moratorium and the federal eviction moratorium.

First, the federal moratorium on foreclosures, banning new foreclosures on any federal-backed mortgages, has now been extended through June 30, 2021. The federal eviction moratorium is scheduled to expire on March 31, 2021, but there are news reports that the Biden administration is considering extending this moratorium further.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (“CFPB”) has a great deal of resources available on its website if you are in need of housing assistance such as a forbearance plan with your lender.

Unless further action is taken by our state and/or federal government, this means that banks will be able to push ahead on foreclosures after June 30, 2021 and landlords will be able to move evictions forward after March 31, 2021.

I just wanted to provide you with this quick update. I hope this information is helpful to you and your family.

Best Regards,
